Introduction
The information on this site is provided as a convenience and does not replace official notices or publications. The City assumes no liability for any legal consequences arising out of the listing of inaccurate or outdated information. Official copies of city records and documents may be obtained from the City Clerk. The City shall maintain sole discretion over the determination of which links may be included on the City Website and reserves the right to remove any link at any time with or without cause. Links, in general, will consist of City-related programs, services, activities, policies and committees. The intent and purpose of the City website is limited to the enhanced delivery of information related to local governance.
Links from the City Website
The City of Laguna Beach website contains hyperlinks (links) to external websites that provide additional information on selected topics and are provided for your reference and convenience only. The City of Laguna Beach does not control other web sites and is not responsible for the content, nor does the City of Laguna Beach’s inclusion of links to such web sites imply endorsement of the material, products, or services on the web sites or any association with their operators. Links, in general, will consist of City-related programs, services, activities, policies and committees. The intent and purpose of the City website is limited to the enhanced delivery of information related to local governance. External links shall be limited to websites maintained by the following types of entities and organizations: a. State, local or federal government agencies, local public schools, transportation agencies, or public libraries. b. Organizations that receive direct funding in the form of either monetary or in-kind contribution from the City to promote economic and cultural development of the City. c. Companies that provide non-City utility services such as cable TV and/or internet service, waste removal and other similar companies which provide service to residents of the City. d. Organizations or businesses that provide a unique online tool that will assist residents in accessing information on the City website or in communicating with each other. e. Organizations approved by the City Council.
The City Shall Not Link to Websites That
- Are associated with, sponsored by or serving a candidate for elective office, or any political party or organization supporting or seeking to defeat any candidate for elective office, ballot proposal, or political position. b. Promote or exhibit hate, bias, discrimination, adult-oriented material or material not suitable for viewing by persons of all ages, or material with libelous or otherwise defamatory content. c. Violate any of the City’s equal opportunity policies. d. Are personal in nature and are operated by individuals. This shall include all blogs and chat groups.
The City Reserves the Right To
- Deny an external link application as to any person, business or organization when it is determined that the External Website does not meet the criteria set forth in this Policy. b. Deny an external link application as to any person, business or organization that fails to provide all the required information, or fails to provide truthful information. c. Remove any external link if the nature of the External Website to which the link relates no longer complies with this policy. d. Revise this Policy, without prior notice, when it is deemed to be in the City’s best interest.
Application for External Links
Entities and organizations wishing to establish links on the City Website must submit a written request (email is acceptable) that shall contain all information necessary to establish that the proposed link complies with the Policy and all information necessary to verify the facts stated. Requests should be submitted via email to the City’s Director of Finance and Information Technology.
Disclaimer of External Links
Links from the City website to External Websites created and maintained by other public and/or private organizations do not constitute endorsement or recommendation by the City of the third party’s website, product, service, activities, views or opinions. The City merely provides these links for the User’s information and convenience. The City is not responsible for the content, quality or accuracy of any external materials referenced on or linked through the City Website. By using the City Website, the user acknowledges and accepts that the City is not responsible for any materials stored on External Websites, nor is the City liable for any inaccurate, defamatory, offensive or illegal materials found on External Websites, and that the risk of injury from viewing, hearing, downloading, or storing such materials rests entirely with the User. When a User selects a link to an External Website, the User leaves the City website and is no longer subject to the privacy and security policies of the City.
